Cricket Mania

Good time for Indians to re-think about the blind craze for Cricket and about the time we spent on watching cricket and going behind the player fan clubs and all. Nice time for Indians to go ahead and think about serious sports.

  1. Deepu, Its high time that we legalised betting in India. Ban on betting brings all these chaos.
    Time to rethink

  3. Betting is legal in all other countries. But in india, we can bet only on horses..
i live in ireland and you will find 100 of bookies like 'paddypower'. you can find more about them in internet. you can go to an office and put your money on any sports, football, hurling, rugby or even cricket..!!..Its like playing lotto.
now why we should legalise this.. it's estimated that nearly 90,000 crores of indian rupees are spend in this betting field, which is operated by under cover/under ground agencies..thats is equal to the defence budget for india..and all these monies go to the criminal kings and eventually spent promot terrorism in india and other part of the world...
when you legalise this... its like anyother entertainment bussines..there will be many parties involved..and more money from taxation..some one may argue.. like.. legalising is not the way to eliminate crime..true..but when betting and the huge amount of money involved are considered, national security and similar issues should get the priority. we should never let these money to go to the extremists and to the terrorists..
when betting is legalised..we all will be able to know where the money lies...will make the game more transparent..
definitly we cannot eliminate match fixing, whenever we have greedy/never satisfied money seekers there in the team, match fixing worries will be there.but we can reduce it..cricket is only a game enjoyed by a few countries/people. it is not as popular as soccer or rugby..but these kind of scandals are minimal in these sort of games.. i know the recent issues with the italian football players.. still its minimal..when there are many betting agencies... there wont be any monopoly of the under world outfits..no more big oney for them..no more threat to the game..

  4. Dear John,

Now I understood the matter. I agree with that. Even if it won't save cricket, it will at least save India from other problems like what you said. It is good to legalize betting.
