This college is situated in North Wayanad. We can reach the college by bus from Mananthavady. It is situated near to a forest, at the top of a hill. "A place of excellent natural beauty". On 12th December 2004 I visited Mary Matha College to attend the seminar of M.Sc Computer Science students, along with Lijo Sebastian, my friend and Jose Abins who is my cousin working in Mind Tree Consulting Pvt. Ltd. Mind Tree
I remember the happy days in Mary Matha with my collegues Mr Thomas Monoth, Ms. Jisha T E and Mr. Govindraj E. Currently Lijo Sebastian is working in Accenture, Banglore as a test engineer and Mr. Govindraj E is doing his M.Tech Programme.

Recently Mary Matha college got the grade B++ in NAC Accreditation.

we had a very good life in the college. but when i went there last time i was disappointed totally.
The college changed a lot... but I dont think its positive...
you ask the teachers about our batch... ask biju sir, savio sir, even Germina sister ( who opposed us , especially the BA students), rajeev sir, Martin, Prasad.... you will get the picture....
but the change in the college ... the culture... is disapointing

ReplyDeleteI checked the link of Marymatha College, it is unfortunate that it doesn’t exist now; it was maintained by a set of students from the MSC computer science batch who were my students. Now the course is no more continued.
Like you, I also had a very good time in the college. Even though I was only there for 9 months as a guest lecturer, I enjoyed the life in Marymatha a lot. Biju sir used to talk a lot about X students. I think he told about you too.
The college changed a lot, especially during the last one year. Forced entry of students politics was one of the major happening, that disturbed the peaceful atmosphere a lot. It followed events like college being shut down for some time, students getting suspended on behalf of disciplinary actions, political parties getting involved in the internal matters of the college, internal “adipidikal”, threats to college staff and students from political parties outside…
Oh!!! The culture changed a lot, the old peaceful Marymatha college doesn’t exist any more.
I admired the college a lot because there was no students’ politics which was guided by political parties outside. I went through all the bad effects of students’ politics when I was a student in Engineering College, Wayanad. I though that Marymatha will be safe, but…
Political parties were trying to peep in then also, I understood. But now it happened.
